Futrell dan Stoner kemudiannya berjaya mendapatkan kebenaran dari Bolivia untuk menunjukkan bahagian itu kepada National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). Bahagian kotak hitam itu akan diambil oleh NTSB pada Januari ini. "Apa yang mereka katakan kepada kami adalah 'Hey, terima kasih kerana membuat pencarian", kata Futrell.
